                                          POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE:    Mechanic

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                                         

  • Must Pass a background check
  • Properly licensed to operate vehicle. 
  • Demonstrates aptitude and competence for automotive, tractor, turf equipment repair, welding and mechanical problem solving. 
  • A minimum five (5) years experience and/or vocational courses and related certification preferred. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be team oriented; neat in appearance, dependable, and punctual; helpful and pleasant in dealing with people. 
  • Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds repeatedly and to turn, twist, and bend as required to operate equipment and perform duties.
  • Must Pass a background check
  • Must be Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified 
  • Must have or be able to obtain a NMCDL Drivers License with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Endorsement 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Twelve-month employee - As per District Salary Schedule 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operates all District equipment in a safe manner.

  2. Supervises the diagnosing, assigning, and repair of a wide range of District equipment:  trucks, trailers, snow removal apparatus and tools, machinery, and miscellaneous school property.

  3. Establishes an efficient, effective system of routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment.

  4. Sets up and supervises a system for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies, keeping records and inventories.

  5. Responsible for District welding including stick, mig and gas.

  6. Properly maintain record of all district vehicles 
  7. Assure that all School Vehicles are maintained and serviced
  8. Assure that all School Vehicles are in Safe working condition
  9. Assure that all School Buses pass School Bus inspection
  10. Maintains safe and clean work environment, including acceptable storage methods for combustibles.

      

    Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Work overtime as required by supervisor or district administration.

  2. Attends meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.

  3. Respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.

  4. Functions as a team player, works on other duties as assigned.

  5. Dress and grooming should be appropriate, with proper uniform and name badge.
